Have you ever wondered what would happen if you slept with a candle lit? It is actually hazardous and can damage things in your living space.
I'm sure some of you have not seen that dumb TikTok video with a girl that had blacked-out nostrils captioned something along the lines of "THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU SLEEP WITH A CANDLE ON", I don't know what it actually said since I can't find it anymore but that inspired me to write this post. If there's something that bugs me more than the smell of bleach it's people believing stupid TikTok videos.
Some people do not read what the package says for all products and won't read the instructions for the candle since it seems simple enough. A candle expert at Tabo said that most of the candles commercialized have burning instructions that will say to only burn for a specific amount of time.
The wax will eventually melt until the bottom proceeding to heat up the container that it is in. This could result into burning the surface that it is on.
The candle could also fall over and set on fire objects and/or materials near. Even if it doesn't fall over, if it is lit next to flammable material, that can be a danger itself.
Even if it has a bit left to burn and you let it burn out while you sleep or if the candle is capable of extinguishing itself after burning for a while, the flame can still spread to other flammable objects.
Some simple rules are also to keep it in sight and not to keep it next to things that can catch fire. You should at least know this is you own a candle.
You shouldn't sleep with a candle lit under any circumstance, the risks are there no matter the situation.
